NDrive has launched the G280 and G800 sat nav devices which feature real 3D photos of UK cities rather than interactive drawings or models.
NDrives photo mapping is currently available for many of the UKs biggest cities, including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Cardiff, Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle and Sheffield, among others. The photo maps are aimed at making it easier to get your bearings by actually seeing your destination in advance.
Features 5 different perspectives:
1 birds-eye view
4 diagonal views.
The diagonal modes should prove most useful, allowing you to see the land marks around you.
The software used is UK and Ireland TeleAtlas Q1 2008, which comes stored on an 8GB memory card. For areas not covered by photo maps the software reverts to the usual TeleAtlas mapping.
